MetaMask is the recommended wallet for Matic Bridge. As the most widely used Ethereum browser extension wallet, MetaMask natively supports both the Ethereum mainnet and Polygon network, making it the most straightforward option for first-time bridge users.
Adding Polygon to MetaMask
To use Matic Bridge, you first need to add the Polygon network to MetaMask. Open MetaMask, click the network dropdown at the top, select Add Network, and choose Add a Network Manually. Enter the following details: Network Name — Polygon Mainnet; New RPC URL — https://polygon-rpc.com; Chain ID — 137; Currency Symbol — POL; Block Explorer URL — https://polygonscan.com.
- Open MetaMask and click the network selector dropdown.
- Click Add Network, then Add a Network Manually.
- Enter Polygon Mainnet details (Chain ID: 137, Symbol: POL).
- Save the network — Polygon is now available in your wallet.
- Switch between Ethereum Mainnet and Polygon by clicking the network selector.
Common MetaMask Issues and Fixes
Some users encounter issues when connecting MetaMask to Matic Bridge. The most common problem is the wallet not detecting the correct network. If the bridge shows an incorrect network warning, manually switch to Ethereum Mainnet in MetaMask before initiating a deposit. If your transaction appears stuck, check Etherscan using your wallet address to confirm whether the transaction was submitted successfully.
If you cannot see bridged tokens in MetaMask after a successful transfer, add the token contract address manually using the Import Tokens feature. Polygon token addresses differ from their Ethereum counterparts.
- Transaction stuck: Wait 30 minutes, then check Etherscan for confirmation status
- Token not visible: Import the Polygon token address in MetaMask
- Wrong network: Switch to Ethereum Mainnet before depositing
- Signature request: Always verify you are on maticbridge.com before signing
